Middle of the OxCam corridor. Now if only they would build the last third of EW rail. And if only the unions would allow the line from Oxford to MK to open.

The Government has signalled* that it remains committed to the Oxford–Cambridge Corridor despite Andy Burnham’s focus on the North. Treasury growth minister Dan Tomlinson has promised “a continued focus on the need for scale and investment across OxCam”.

Tomlinson wrote on X: “On OxCam, Lord Vallance and I will be convening local leaders, Ministers, and others to discuss the key actions that will turn this ambition into reality. This is about unlocking growth in places like Milton Keynes, Bedford and Northampton as well as Oxford and Cambridge. ”

🚀What will it take for OxCam to become a Top 10 global cluster?

Cambridge Ahead was pleased to support the launch of a new research report outlining the roadmap to the Oxford to Cambridge Growth Corridor to fulfil its economic potential, for the benefit of its communities and the UK as a whole.
October 1, 2026 at 3:09 PM
"OxCam does not yet have the scale or depth of a top-tier cluster. Once the conditions that allow companies to scale are taken into account, it ranks second last among the clusters compared in the research"

“However, “a top-tier cluster requires more than exceptional scientific output”, the report says, and OxCam is a “relatively weak” ecosystem for companies needing to raise growth capital, find routes to market or scale production.”

Looks like the OxCam Arc mini-league is going to be a game of two halves this season:

1. Cambridge Utd (12 pts)
2. Oxford Utd (11 pts)
3. MK Dons (6 pts)
4. Peterborough Utd (5 pts)

Plenty to play for still.

Oxford and Cambridge *are* second tier cities, though. OxCam *is* a 'boosting the UK's second tier cities' policy.

The Oxford Cambridge green light for funding was disappointing, OxCam alumni all over westminster. With all the will in the world, they will skew decisions. Need the equivalent for the northern cities and not more false promises.

You can absolutely get to fuck. The oxcam arc is not coherent enough to have that being the primary regional borders
