Doing a quick look into Persona, they are effectively a consumer front end to a verification product by Paravision (formerly Ever, Ever AI, and Everalbum), who in 2021 were caught by the FTC illegally retaining facial scans to train their in house AI models.

It's also seems to just be a consumer facing layer over Paravision's tech underneath, the same Paravision that was got busted by the FTC in 2021 for illegally keeping verification photos, that they were supposed to have deleted, in order to train AI.

It looks like the upcoming FAQ will address data retention - I do hope they clarify whether Paravision, Persona's AI training partner, gets access to our data, and can sell models trained with it, but it's nice to know that at least part of the concerns will be addressed.

And it really is "advance three", because Persona, and by extention Paravision who actually provide the verification tech, already have a history of misusing data they didn't delete when they were supposed to to train AI algorithms (which probably fed their Five Eyes Intel contract tech)
