PMEL has related as many as _three-fourths_ of their recordings had the sound of airguns in the background.
When a ship does a survey, they are "mowing the lawn" ( back-and-forth pattern to cover a region of interest ), 24 hours a day.
Just an astonishing about of noise.

Not surprising, since NOAA has zeroed the proposed budget for all climate research for FY 2026. OAR - Ocean and Atmospheric Research - gone. In Seattle, the budget also proposes closing PMEL and the joint institute (climate research) with UW. Total annihilation.
