#PROscription
Carolyn Gelenter, a Holocaust survivor’s daughter, arrested under the Terrorism Act today outside the Supreme Court while protesting for the de-proscription of Palestine Action.

She told us why she and many other Jews are risking their freedoms in opposition to the proscription.

The UK Jewish Bloc has been granted permission to intervene in the Supreme Court Appeal against the proscription on Palestine Action, meaning Jewish voices will present evidence in support of Huda Ammori’s case, countering the lies & absurdities on which the proscription relies.

TODAY 🚨

We’re intervening in the Supreme Court hearing on the proscription of Palestine Action.

Our position remains the same: that proscribing a direct-action protest group is a disproportionate use of counter-terrorism laws.

Today, the Metropolitan Police arrested protesters outside the U.S. Embassy in London for holding signs opposing genocide and the UK and the U.S. government’s proscription of Palestine Action as a terrorist organization.

Judges are told proscription, far from damaging Palestine Action's "brand" (🙄), has ensured that it will now be remembered as the 21st century successors of historical movements like the suffragettes

The submission is that the Home Secretary failed to take into account the range of available measures and proscription was an "excessive reaction" to Palestine Action's direct action campaign

STOP THE GENOCIDE

"Our government is actively facilitating this genocide."

Hundreds are being arrested for opposing the Trumpian ban on Palestine Action, just days before the Supreme Court hearing on the proscription.

PROTESTERS NOW RELEASED ON BAIL

The Home Office stated yesterday that “The proscription of Palestine Action does not affect lawful protest in support of the Palestinian cause.”

But hundreds were given bail conditions today not to attend any protests in support of Palestine.

On impact, "the impact of proscription on members and supporters was dramatic... those affected encompass vast numbers who cannot express support for many of the actions of Palestine Action"

Andy Burnham could have immediately taken the high ground if he had removed the Palestine Action proscription. Instead, he is looking as dictatorial as his predecessors.

Proscription now.
For context, this particular hotel may house close to 500 men, women and children, all of whom could've been burned alive. Far right radicalisation is a serious threat, yet often politicians pander to their ideology, claiming it is the only way to counter them.

We have condemned the misuse of terror laws throughout this case.

Our lawyers have submitted an intervention into the case arguing that the proscription is a breach of human rights to freedom of expression, association and peaceful assembly.

The point is raised that proscription should never be used as a general crime provision measure, when this is better suited to the criminal law. Prosecutions of Palestine Action members have, after all, not been for terrorism offences.

"Supreme Court will hear this week from lawyers for Palestine Action co-founder Huda Ammori that the group's proscription should be quashed."

Here are some words that we don't hear very often, and that we can. hope to be hearing more and more over the coming weeks and months:

Lustration.
Damnatio memoriae.
Proscription.
Ostracism.
Épuration.
Disgorgement.
Attainder.
Anathema.

A woman held a sign saying ‘I support genocide’ at a #London protest against the proscription of #PalestineAction, without to face arrest.
That’s because holding a sign expressing support for genocide is not, in itself, grounds for arrest under #UK law.

Running through the offences that result from proscription, judges have asked about the concept of "intellectual support" and if it has an impact on opposing the ban. They want to know if many of the arrests since July 2025 were correctly considered a crime if "there's no risk"
November 4, 2026 at 11:29 AM
We are now looking at the functioning of using proscription and the powers of the Home Secretary, but the judges keep coming back to whether the action at Brize Norton is terrorism and why the Supreme Court shouldn't use it as a factor in the question of proportionality

There are some things that can’t be set aside as ‘right on this, left on that.’ Their attacks on trans people, the proscription of PA, the horrifically xenophobic and racist policies on migrants and asylum seekers etc. these are incredibly extreme.
