i have become extremely intolerant of fearmongering around pap smears. i think so many people are doing young people a disservice by saying it is the scariest thing ever. you know what is scarier than a pap smear? cervical cancer

Great advice but don't forget your annual pap smear, too. An abnormal pap smear was my only clue that I had uterine cancer. I had no symptoms.
