#Parishes
I’ve been pleasantly surprised by how many Catholic parishes and power figures have been loudly and openly “fuck this”
ICE’s acting director ordered a Boston Catholic parish to tear down its Advent Nativity scene—stripped of baby Jesus and branded with the message “ICE WAS HERE.” The parish priest is refusing, citing he pope’s call to stand with migrants. It's another chapter in Kristi Noem's war on Christians.
“ICE Was Here”: Pope Leo-Inspired Nativity Scene Sparks MAGA Outrage
A Nativity scene missing Jesus — and marked with an “ICE was here” sign — has triggered cries of “politicizing Christmas.” The parish priest says he’s answering Pope Leo's call to welcome stranger.

(Also, the "parishes are encouraged to explore alternate means of catechisis" is Catholic for encouraging parish priests to conduct home visits to administer communion, which is also a Big Deal. The parishes might not have the staffing to do it, but.)

In a stunning development, Donald Trump and JD Vance have allowed ICE to start targeting Catholic parishes during Mass.

I’m deeply troubled by reports of vandalism targeting two Catholic churches in Far Rockaway.

Everyone in our city deserves to practice their faith freely, without fear or intimidation.

We stand in solidarity with these parishes and their communities as they recover.

They're definitely having trouble filling posts, the "parishes without a resident priest" shows that, but part of the issue is there are way too many parishes for the current actively-attending population so the church is stuck trying to staff a billion parishes with, like, 15 registered families
