#Partygate
The ILR rules are bonkers.

How many MPs, I wonder:

a) Have never committed a criminal offence (e.g. drug use, speeding etc), however minor.

"Spotless" presumably would rule out every partygate MP as well as Louise Haigh, who has a conviction for fraud.

b) Don't owe any money to the taxpayer.
"Non-negotiable conditions" which will apply to settlement - such as a conditional caution.

Not dissimilar to how it was essentially partygate that took Johnson down, rather than the much worse stuff he presided over, and is.

It meant they didn't want to go hard on Partygate but by that point they couldn't completely ignore it either so tried to split the difference

Ask, Japan's Takaichi. Japanese government deportation Turkish Kurdish etc. .ask UK. Boris Tory partygate and Rwanda Bill. EU members, you use Rwanda Bill.

It is infuriating! Look at Boris Johnson, he was forced out over Partygate and the Pincher scandal because the Parliamentary system actually held him accountable when he lost his party's support. It’s freaking maddening that Trump faces far worse and just walks right through it without consequences

Eh, Johnson is overrated too, he was distracted by partygate & looking for something to change the subject, didn't get long term investments in the DIB going, and it's notable Wallace resigned before the end of Tory government, my guess over not giving enough cash to Ukraine.

Great to see the PM bringing civil society, businesses and local government together to tackle rough sleeping and its causes. As I say in my book, Bad Government, we need more of this collaborative, preventative approach to government: www.bitebackpublishing.com/books/bad-go...

It feels like you’re letting political bias cloud reality.

Reducing the UK’s early war response entirely to a "Partygate distraction" ignores the military and intelligence timeline.

Shipping NLAWs in January 2022 wasn't a PR stunt; it was a high-risk strategic decision made before the invasion.

Never ever forget or forgive what the tories got up to during the pandemic #Partygate
.
Boris Johnson, Matt Hancock etc are responsible for the dreadful covid death toll in care homes - when it was obvious from Italy how serious it would be.

They were more interested in making money from dodgy PPE deals... 🤦‍♀️

Makes me sick to think about their conduct. Never, ever forget what they did.

It starts with Johnson ignoring the COBRA meetings at the beginning and ends up with Partygate. Hundreds of thousands of deaths in between.

I never understand why any of this shit takes so long to uncover and bring to justice. I’d like to add Partygate, the Post Office Horizon Scandal, Bloody Sunday, Farage’s funding, and Russian funding of Brexit. It all stinks.

Some background for those unfamiliar. He colluded in this fabricated political hit-job, some time after the official in question had found him to be one of most culpable for Covid rule breaches in Partygate. bsky.app/profile/publ...
Extraordinary that the UK’s top civil servant and the PM’s CoS are still working together, given the history.

In 2023, Case allowed the Govt to claim, baselessly, that Gray had committed a “prima facie breach” of the Civil Service Code. He defended this at a parliamentary committee hearing.
