As someone with a mental link to the States and a physical stake in the consequences of the States, I also keenly feel the dissonance between life in the periphery and thought in the metropole
I don’t have insights into the Blob bc I’m not in IR conversations. However, the near-total *absence* of the live and catastrophic war the US is fighting from the otherwise brilliant academic conversations I have been part of has been the most dissonant aspect of my first two months stateside.
