Young Photios and Ignatios are on the front cover and their older versions are on the back cover 1000AD "We were born of the sea." A woman with long white hair stands in the shallows of the black sea, arms extended. A group of nuns wait at the shore as two eggs float closer One nun picks up an egg. Inside the egg is a baby. "Yuliana the eunuch-maker cared for us in the house infirmary, where we watched her perform our family legacy, the flesh arts." "Under the iron grip of our family, we found solace in one another." Photios being whipped; Ignatios getting punched. The executioners saw a prisoner in half. The twins cling to each other, their relationship moving from comfort to sex as they cope with their family life. "As they twisted us to their liking, we grew crueler to each other." Photios having his dick stroked by another nobleman in the garden. Ignatios rushes up, enraged, unsheathing his sword. Ignatios has Photios tied to a target haystack, cutting off his long braid. A smirking Photios gets his retribution, sitting on Ignatios's back after an ambush, cutting off his ponytail. "Your love formed a briar." Ignatios smirking, his hand buried in Photios's chest, wrapped around his heart. His abusive words become thorns, wrapping around them both, cutting them both. ('look how much I've done for you' 'no one else could love you like I do' 'i ask so little...' 'you'll never leave me, we're family..' 'I'm the best you'll ever get' 'you can be so ungrateful' 'don't be so cold, I need you..') 1040 "You were wed and sent to Constantinople." Photios watches from the back of the room as Ignatios takes his wife's hand on the day of their wedding. "Relief found me in your absence." Photios lying in bed with a cup of warm soup, looking out his window. Momentarily at peace....

Photios, by contrast, is very effusive towards Arrian and wrote several sections on his works. Pretty clear these authors had different opinions on the man.

It has a stylized horse head motif Two Lunate earrings from the 10-11th century. The one with filigree spheres was worn in the imperial court and decorated with pearls and gems. The other was gold and pearls. Some of the stones were missing; I took liberty and added them back Drawing of a pair of drop earrings from the 5th century from the front and side. Drawings of two 6th century cross pendants. I'm going to have to give Photios a different cross necklace than I gave him in Epiphany

One interesting thing about looking at the Suda and the Bibliotheca of Photios as evidence for establishing Byzantine logics of collection is where the two seem to disagree with one another. Whoever wrote the Suda seemed to consider Arrian's historical career incidental.

I am not sure I have met anyone who seems as enthusiastic about Arrian of Nikomedia as Photios seems. He just keeps writing about this man. He spends more time talking about (summarizing, really) Arrian than he does Herodotus.

Also Eumenes my GOAT gets a mention let's fucking gooooooooo
