Solanum americanum, American Black Nightshade germinated in tissue culture. Planted in culture and then stored in a refrigerator for two months had a 100% success rate. No cold treatment had a 60% success rate. #PlantTissueCulture

The last Java Fern culture that hasnt fully gone brown on me.... The protocol did show the leaf grew brown callus into green callus so who knows 🤷‍♂️.

Update on our only non contaminated Anubias culture. There seems to be something poking out of here hopefully its the worlds smallest shoot we are at 2 weeks 5 days of this rhizome cutting being in tissue culture.

Update on these cultures 3/4 have become contaminated. 1 with mold and 2 with bacteria, and surprisingly the one pictured here on the bottom has shown 0 signs of contamination, so ill take that as a win🤷‍♂️

Now here's a better picture of ovule culture - no weird circles in the background.

my #undergraduateresearch student uses this type of #planttissueculture to see an effect of a compound on fiber growth. #plantbiology is cool!
Looking down on cotton ovules growing in a six-well plate. Each well contains growth medium and a different concentration of a compound we're testing. We're seeing an effect on ovule growth and fiber growth. Higher amounts of the compound results in smaller ovules, fewer fibers, and apparently tissue death - big white ovules to tiny brown ones! After 14 days of growth, I think the healthy fibers and ovules look like tiny sheep swimming in a tiny pool.
