Mamet has a legit argument as among the best known (and for some prior work, well-regarded) American playwrights, though he's clearly getting it for political reasons.

Such a great read from @bkadams.bsky.social on Black women in early modern England and a tantalisingly titled lost play, 'The Black Lady' -- asu.pressbooks.pub/to-hear-her-...
The Black Lady (1622) and Early Modern Black Ladies – To Hear Her Speak
Recovers a previously hidden theater and performance history of Black women engaging with Shakespeare as actors, playwrights, costume designers, and directors.

Honestly, you don't have to be all that popular. It just helps to have connections who take it upon themselves to do it (e.g. my playwriting agent deciding all their playwrights need wiki pages 😅)

Tony Marinelli on The Kick Inside at HERE Arts Center, Nicolás Noreña's surrealist assemblage by 13 playwrights inspired by Kate Bush's debut album: ambitious, with striking moments, but too rarely a satisfying whole. www.theaterscene.net/plays/offbwa...
The Kick Inside - TheaterScene.net
An intriguing experiment in theatrical surrealism, rich in visual invention and committed performances, ultimately undone by its own fragmented execution.

My newest short play, "Mother's Now a Vampire," debuted tonight as part of Tales Told in the Dark, an evening of staged readings at HART Theatre in Hillsboro, OR. My cast rocked, and the audience loved them.

Huge thanks to HART for helping local playwrights bring new works to the stage!
