Polski polsci?

My other morning thought is that we (lawyers/polsci people) have spent so much time analysing how bad guys do bad things to achieve bad goals that we are ill-prepared for what happens when good guys do bad things to achieve good goals.

In a local context, see the Irish Times (a really interesting PolSci statistical study out there in plain sight on IT editorial campaigns)
Jamo's point about the bylines is the critical indicator here. When the Times decides they really want to juice a story, they assign multiple reporters to it - in this case, NINE - which produces a torrent of articles, which then convinces everyone else in the media that this is a Really Big Deal
I wrote about the New York Times’ multimedia full-court press on the dumb Alaska story — a dozen print, video, audio, and newsletter reports at last count — and the news media’s responsibility to cover things in proportion to their importance.

I now doubt the Philippine PolSci perspective that sees the Philippine state as “fragmented” with differing and contradictory priorities. Like it's literally a TV trope where different US federal agencies compete for jurisdiction. Fragmentation seems the norm in all states.

Even in the early 2020s very on-the-ball serious polsci academics would break up an otherwise quite unappealing book with a final chapter "hey, maybe reducing inequality will Make It Go Away perhaps? We ... don't know for sure it won't? And if you tried and it didn't work ... not the worst outcome".

Yeah, that basically summarises a couple of decades of polsci research.

The closest you can get to making this stand up is "anything that hurts Centre Right (and to a lesser extent Centre Left) parties helps the Radical Right" and that can obviously overlap with local economics.

Prompt:
Write a PolSci-style article titled "Gas: lubricant and catalyst of a functioning democracy" that analyses how endlessly rising fuel prices inevitably lead to disapproval of the current government and, hence, to continuous political change.

Submit it to a journal and gather academic points.
