The real promise of Medicare for All is portability: losing a job, moving, or starting a business shouldn’t mean risking your access to care.

it’s called Mobile Number Portability (also Local Number Portability) and it’s made possible (in NA) by the Number Portability Administration Center (NPAC) in the US and Canadian Number Portability Administration Center, who maintain and share data as it changes.

Xbox Nano Controller hits the shelves

Xbox introduced the Nano Controller, a compact gamepad over 5 inches long and 3.5 ounces, aimed at portability. Clearly for on-the-go cloud gaming.

In the next One More Rail update, guest login gets a redesign.

No email needed for guests on web.

Hope this helps people discover the game, then link an email for portability if they want.

The best part is that the number portability did:plc is (or, was) a spreadsheet that's "synchronized" via FTP. This is a more comprehensive wikipedia article as the FCC doesn't actually manage LNP across the +1 calling code, that's NANPA en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Local_n...

The non-portability of vinyl has precluded my having a relationship with it. I have some regrets.

Another brainworm today, is I wonder how painful/possible it would be to turn the bytecode of a pure/hermetic Python function into WASM for portability.

This is in terms of making portable signal value decoders.

It would also mean the decoder can't use any "external" state or modules

if it helps, i played the demo on both switch 2 and ps5 and honestly, it’s more or less the same. i got it for switch 2 because of portability!

Transferring important files to a thumb drive is brilliant for portability, but not always great for longevity. Here's why you should back them up elsewhere.

In the race to platform portability they kinda forgot that part of their protection strategy was that they owned the documentation to the bespoke chips they designed/commissioned?

I did end up getting this on my switch because the extra 20 dollars vs buying dark arisen on PC felt worth it, this game does feel very well suited to portability/couch play

any personal finance trackers / budgeting tools / other financial data use cases on atproto yet?

portability between providers would be extremely cool for this area because setting up a new tool (e.g. Mint, YNAB, Rocket Money) is cumbersome and personalized. definitely needs permissioned data

I think this only applies if you tie in advertising.

It's much easier to write laws for good privacy, data portability, and algorithmic choice to address this and a wider range of issues.

The person proposing mortgage portability is so close to getting it (the way to fix the US housing market is getting rid of the 30 year fixed rate mortgage and making all mortgages adjustable rate)
October 13, 2026 at 1:32 PM
I keep pushing for mortgage portability. With it, people could downsize and realize some of that value. As is, you could downsize and still have a higher mortgage payment.
