University College Dublin researchers studied 356 people with PASC and found 6 distinct inflammatory bioprofiles.

Three showed higher tissue damage, clotting, axonal injury, or antiviral markers, biology that symptom groupings missed.

Since many years, I’m surprised about your takes on postacute sequelae. In the piece, you link to a good substack opinion article from Oliver Johnson about the English data.

Regarding data, can you help me with the following:

In private payer data, complex procedures in The Transforming Episode Accountability Model by @CMSGov were associated with more intensive care unit use, readmissions, and postacute care, but hospital payments often did not increase proportionally. ja.ma/4x5kDNL

Plasma membrane order maps functional diversity in immune cells
To investigate the extent of PM order heterogeneity in suboptimal health conditions, we first compared the PM order in primary peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) isolated from healthy donors (n = 14) and persons affected by chronic inflammation, namely chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL; n = 5) and postacute sequelae of COVID-19 infection (long COVID, LC; n = 14) (Fig. 1a). Characterization of PM order required several key optimization steps, which are described in detail in Supplementary Figs. 2 and 3 and Supplementary Notes 1 and 2. After optimizing protocols for sample preparation40 and flow cytometry settings, we maximized the sensitivity of Pro12A in detecting minute differences in PM order across a wide range of membrane compositions while ensuring its compatibility with live-cell analysis. Next, we designed a panel of cell surface markers to identify cell lineages that was compatible with our probe for PM order (that is, minimal spectral overlap) and enabled us to identify 12 different immune cell subsets in combination with PM order measurements using Pro12A (Supplementary Fig. 4). The intensities of Pro12A, measured in two different channels, were used to calculate PM order—as normalized generalized polarization (ΔGP)—for individual cells (Eqs. 1 and 2 in Supplementary Note 1),...

After stroke, recovery setting may matter beyond function.

A 213,511-person cohort linked inpatient rehab to fewer vascular events over 1 year. Association, not proof of causation.

Postacute IRF discharge is associated with a lower 1-year MACE risk after AIS, highlighting the postacute care setting as a potentially modifiable system-level target for secondary prevention of long-term vascular outcomes.

Over the past 6 years, Covid has killed and disabled million of people. This is the price of a libertarian laissez-faire that prioritises profits over our lives.

If you're outraged by inaction on climate change whilst accepting inaction on public health, you need to think better.

Very late reply. Paper: endemic covid has made humans overall less healthy. Sometimes disability is not a big dramatic thing, it's a small quiet thing like the loss of taste or smell or an increased risk of stroke or heart attack.

Worried a shot "won't help" after a past COVID? Each infection can add to the risk of heart and clotting problems. Risk tends to climb with repeat infections.
Your protection isn't "used up" after 1 shot or 1 bout of COVID. Staying current with the vaccine reduces the impacts of repeated infections.

It is especially irritating when doctors are in crowds unmasked like they don’t understand that it causes brain damage, immune system damage, cardiovascular damage and cancer.
