It’s common in early modern wills to leave money for masses to be said for one's soul, but this is the first time I’ve come across receipts for them. These are from the churches of S. Prassede, S. Gregorio, and S. Lorenzo in Rome for masses said on behalf of one Catarina Olivieri Vivente

I love these ephemeral prints in archives. This is a receipt for a blessed shroud (12 pesos & 4 reales). Researching them is difficult as most archives of printers have not been preserved. Perhaps they can be found in the archives of the convents/churches but that is for a postdoc 😉 #BookHistory

Dit is het tolbriefje van Jeudah Senior Henriques, 17 december 1706. In 2025 vieren we dat Amsterdam 750 jaar bestaat. Dat bestaan is gebaseerd op het tolprivilege (afb 2) dat op 25 oktober 1275 aan Amsterdam werd gegeven. Amsterdammers mochten voortaan tolvrij met handel over de Hollandse rivieren.
