Is software testing just unit tests? Garth Gilmour breaks down the full picture - because there’s a lot more to quality than passing a few asserts!

The Visual Basic form designer in Visual Studio 2026 is the same one Alan Cooper drew on paper in 1987. I wrote about why it's still here:

Visual Studio 2026 still ships the form designer Alan Cooper drew in 1987
Every UI framework Microsoft has shipped since WinForms (2002) was sold as its successor. WPF, Silverlight, UWP, MAUI, Blazor desktop. Twenty-four years on, WinForms is still there, on modern .NET, wi...

Today in 2014, Kubernetes had its first commit.
Just days later, on June 10, Google announced it to the world.
That was the day containers got more than a runtime.
They got a traffic controller. 🚦

From fjord simulations to global enterprise software—OOP's journey is wild. But did we ever truly grasp Alan Kay's original vision of "messaging"? Or did we settle for a simpler, less powerful interpretation? What do you think?

A historical curiosity in C:

The language includes digraphs so programmers could write code on keyboards missing characters like `{` or `#`.

Example:
`<%` instead of `{`

It’s rarely used today but still part of the standard.

int main(void)
<%
    return 0;
%>

The zero-based vs. one-based indexing debate isn't settled. Historical reasons & varying programming paradigms mean trade-offs exist. Understanding these choices, like C's zero-based vs. Pascal's one-based, is key for robust code. 🤔 #ProgrammingHistory 6/6
