If you look closely, those aren't angle brackets, they're characters from the Canadian Aboriginal Syllabics block, which are allowed in Go identifiers. This whole saga makes me thing of google's glue on a pizza AI summary. The AI has randomly scraped reddit for how to code. Guaranteed it's scanned r/programminghorror and is using mistakes people have made as viable strategies to debug issues.
