Prolepsis is where events that happen after the narrative are mentioned within the narrative. Using the Hamilton example above, the narrative ends with Hamilton’s death in 1804, but the $10 bill first had Hamilton in 1928 (Eliza’s story at the end is prolepsis, but less effective as it is epilogue)

Prolepsis isn’t a bad thing. It’s a legitimate poetic device in ancient and even some modern poetry (poetry being less narrative now makes that harder, but when we have the line “the ten-dollar founding father”, we must concede its continued use). I teach ancient poetry; I’m a prolepsis fan

"Ik ben geen specialist, maar..." in de linguïstiek en psychologie wordt dit een disclaimer of een prolepsis genoemd: je anticipeert op een mogelijke tegenreactie om die direct te ontkrachten. Maar.. als je geen specialist bent, dan verkondig je beter geen idiote meningen.
