A lot of stuff going on here, and I'm not a lawyer, but one piece is this: Boasberg is asking for sworn statements in answer to his various questions by noon tomorrow. That, as I understand it, can lead to three distinct bad places for the DOJ.

Reports saying Trudeau is "considering prorogation or resignation" surely mean to say he is considering *both*. The only way a resignation would not cause absolute chaos is if it was timed with a prorogation, so that the Liberal caucus has time to select a new leader. 1/n

For all its flaws, the UK offers protection against discrimination and enforcement of rights that would be the envy of most countries. The rule of law still operates IE prorogation case. There is a lack of right-wing religious rhetoric and indeed religion is largely treated as ridiculous.

I don't think there's an alternative to prorogation. The question is how long. The longer the prorogation, the harder it will be to justify (politically).
Note there's no legal Q about the validity of prorogation in this context. A leadership change is a true gov't reset.

As with many things that have gone seriously rancid in the UK, the current terrorising of legal offices was ramped up via Brexit - when No10 itself mounted a sustained attack on the judiciary and legal practitioners as “enemies of the state”, “leftie lawyers”, for overturning unlawful prorogation.
