#ProtoFlux
Watch out! The dreaded pumpkin printer has been sighted making his way around @resonite.com! Just look at how he uses his terrifying gesture to summon Moduprints! And then he forces you to use them to organize your ProtoFlux code! Scary stuff.

You can do a lot of things a lot more directly in Resonite, rather than using workarounds.

You can pipe data in (and out) with WebSockets, HTTP or OSC using our scripting language ProtoFlux.

Another option are mods too! A while back someone made DMX mod to drive lighting in a world.

If one wished to know more about the capabilities of Resonite's shader and interfacing with it via ProtoFlux, where should one look? (I have zero knowledge of #resonite)

protoflux has me wishing i could put boolean conditional toggles in everything with a flow graph. looking at you pipewire, where i am constantly tediously connecting things in and out

Unfortunately, not thorough shaders, but you can get it with protoflux scripting.

Bonus: with protoflux you can have someone interacting with said goo force their avatar to change.

You can control/drive any properties of the shaders with ProtoFlux - they're exposed as primitive values like any other. It can be used to do a number of effects.

Main limitation right now is that you can't add new shaders to the engine - it's something we plan to introduce, but it's complex.

Another quick preview of a WIP #Moduprint feature I'm working on over on @resonite.com - bulk packing / unpacking of multiple ProtoFlux node groups! I think this will be a nice quality of life feature to have.

More or less finished with Ghostly Wildcat the import to Resonite. I may make some custom metallic layers (for whatever reason, the outfit is missing them) and the sliders need to be finished, but all outfit toggles work fine. No Protoflux needed.

DataModelStore
Synced to all users and thus is always the same value for everyone.

This difference is due to where the values are stored. A DataModelStore saves in the datamodel (essentialy the hierarchy). Local and Store save in Protoflux land and thus aren't synced.

Hey, @frooxius.bsky.social, would something like this be handy for the spatial variables in use with ProtoFlux, specifically the rendering engine having a way to play more nicely with it?
#GodotEngine will support spatial containers in the upcoming 4.8 release and we are excited to see how developers use these new engine's capabilities.

Spatial Containers bring new capabilities to XR applications to work in shared spatial environments.

oh everything is nodes
it's all... manipulated in vr?

I'm guessing I don't get a text window to type things into

I thought we'd see this kind of stuff once we have WASM support, but they made it with ProtoFlux already!

This is quite impressive!

@frooxius.bsky.social I wonder if diagnostic tools for finding badly optimized parts of ProtoFlux could help people make more optimized stuff.

There is more content being created for Resonite than ever thanks to AI.

Artists that didn't know how to code (protoflux) now can do that to elevate their work. Same with devs that don't have creative skills, creating assets for their systems.

This is net positive however you want to spin it

credit where credit is due maybe like 2 or 3 of probably almost a hundred stations have made my ears itch. i was such a shoutcast junkie so this is the Shit to me. hitting the big "download and parse 8MB of XML" button takes like two seconds but its worth it

If it has some fancy bells and whistles you may need help with that. I don't know. But there's a bunch of volunteer helpers that can be called upon to assist, who know avatar setup and the intricacies of protoflux, the codebase used in resonite

Baby's first ProtoFlux!
I can now have space station by the meter on #Resonite. #NerdaWorksADP

Got a bit further with my #Resonite renderer experiments… Controllers work, Linux + Vulkan works, and I’m a lot closer to shader parity, though still some gaps. I also managed to get a depth map over onto the headset client, so Resonite can now breach containment and enter reality!

Better Face-Tracking: There are A LOT of ways to address what you want. GradientValue components or just doing math-driven ProtoFlux are some interesting spots to look at.

Tail wag: VERY easy. Speed adjustment might be weird unless you do the timing adjustment yourself (It's not quite delta time).

For example I know VRC creators use custom shaders to determine proximity between objects, but for that Resonite has spatial data structures. And some effects such as hue shifts or animating textures doesn't require custom shaders either, you can control those properties with components / ProtoFlux.
September 25, 2026 at 1:28 PM
Custom shaders will be pretty huge for visuals, but a lot of things they are (ab-)used for on VRChat can be achieved with different tools on Resonite. (ProtoFlux and procedural assets are VERY powerful). You can get a good bit out of Resonite's built-in shaders, but those don't replace custom ones.

Yeah I just remembered that stuff in general.

As for 3d modeling in engine it has been made even more possible with a raw mesh primitive that allows you to manipulate individual triangles to make models using ProtoFlux scripting so people can make tools with it and it excites me on its potential.

Recently got back into Resonite. I learned how to build my own clock at a tutorial world using Protoflux.
September 8, 2026 at 4:36 AM
Will we be able to do circular-buffer recording with this? (continuously recording the last N seconds, and saving that to a clip when triggered by protoflux/whatever)

if so that would be really good for minigames and such
