#PseudoScientific
Boy, if we’ve decided that nobody can be trusted to make an important life decision before 25 we’re really going to have to restructure a lot of society around an arbitrary, pseudoscientific number
"Helen Joyce...said: “Given that we know the vast majority of elective mastectomies relating to gender identity are performed on girls who haven’t reached the crucial age of brain maturity at 25, the sharp rise in the number of these surgeries in recent years is a tragedy."

I think Kulusevski’s comments about a physio resetting his nervous system is a euphemism for finding some new approaches that work for him.

Not some spiritual or pseudoscientific mumbo jumbo.

The idea that "brain maturity" occurs at 25 is a pseudoscientific lie. There simply is no serious argument why 25 should be considered an age at which brains are "mature", and they're not. Tired of repeating this.

So many people commenting on my video to say Channel 4’s documentary “The Great ADHD Myth” caused them significant distress.

Chanel 4 ought to be so fucking ashamed for airing what is essentially pseudoscientific propaganda that has caused upset, distress & alarm among vulnerable disabled people.

it’s based on it being a bigoted rag that regularly platforms pseudoscientific gibberish being used to deny life-saving healthcare to queer children.

i don’t see redemption in their future.

A lot of people have glorified it as some kind of tragic ascetic sacrifice they've made, and not ridiculous pseudoscientific boomer whining

The conversation on peptides begins about 15 minutes into the episode, and features all of the hallmarks of pseudoscientific blathering.

No, I’m not linking it. Consider it my contribution to “wellness”.

Yes, they are pseudoscientific supplements. Peptides are the short chains of amino acids that make up proteins and can have signaling functions. In this context they can be taken orally or by injection or IV.

There are no reliable data on the vast majority of them, and people shouldn’t take them.

This occurred in the wake of the pseudoscientific “Evaluation of Transsexual Surgery” report which drew upon the writings of Janice Raymond, an extremist transphobe who famously wrote of her wish to “morally mandate transsexualism out of existence”.

Martial artist taking questionable pseudoscientific drugs? Say it ain't so

I am a dope but I trust Dr. J and responders: what are peptides in this context? Are these pseudoscientific supplements? What are they supposed to do?

Not illegal, but pseudoscientific and not admissible in court.

Maybe that's what he means? I know they use pseudoscientific terms like "reset the nervous system" in psychology a lot, maybe he's learning to manage anxiety or something

These transphobic mfs who are like "ermmmm i don't support trans people in sports" would also not support Black people playing sports with white people if they were born 80 years ago since Black people were long thought by pseudoscientific theories to have an advantage over white people

"Semitic" in the linguistics sense and "antisemitism" are both named after the same obsolete pseudoscientific racial theory, but they have nothing to do with each other besides that shared etymology.

and i know you aren't going to bat for conversion therapy and eugenics and minimise their impact as if they aren't pseudoscientific and inherently genocidal ideologies, right?

I know it's overstated but the pseudoscientific use of language of the DSM5 and neurotransmitters is so pathetic, nobody seems to see it as politics either.

it's just that my cousin believes in it in a pseudoscientific kind of way and it's really, really tiring because she roped my mother into it as well

Using these filters (underneath defenders), Ernest Jones ranks 12th out of 102 safeties and LBs in yards/cover-snap.

Target charting for underneath interior defenders is particularly pseudoscientific but it's still good dopamine and matches the film test.

It's something worth considering if you can afford it & have time, but it can be hard work & upsetting & is unlikely to yield immediate positive results. I'd also point out that EMDR is currently considered pseudoscientific by most researchers. So be wary of big promises around that.

3) Anyway, "re-wiring your nervous system" is a bit of an odd pseudoscientific way to phrase it, but it's more like accepting that some level of pain is your new normal and that it doesn't mean you are still injured, it's just how you are now. Don't worry about it. Separate that signal from new ones

This makes sense if you subscribe to Stone Tape theory.

I mean, you shouldn't. It's pseudoscientific nonsense. However as a literary device it creates a compelling set of rules to craft a mystery for the reader.

"it’s a fallacy to think that cognitive science can be automated (...) if you ask AI to take over, you run into many risks, from getting stuck in existing theories to deskilling future scientists. It creates inconsistencies, which runs the risk of introducing pseudoscientific ideas into the field."
Psychologists shouldn't replace thinking with AI | Radboud University
For some psychologists, it's becoming more common to use AI systems to replace human thinking in research. That's a very risky choice based on misconceptions, warn Iris van Rooij and Olivia Guest in a...
