How quaint.
For today’s bonus “One First,” I wrote about Abraham Lincoln’s commitment to holding the Election of 1864—even when he thought he’d probably lose and his successor would sue for peace, thus ending the war (and, likely, the Union).

Respecting and preserving the will of the people was more important:
Bonus 173: The Election of 1864
At the lowest moment of his presidency (if not the Civil War), Abraham Lincoln was committed to protecting the people's right to vote him out in favor of a negotiated end to the war—and the Union.

Honestly? The $400M plane from Qatar is quaint compared to his crypto scam, memecoin con, insider trading, and tariff shakedowns.

I’m old enough to remember when lying about adultery was worthy of impeachment. Feels quaint at this point.

Aggressively quaint
Trump’s deals make the campaign finance scandals of the last century — recall the Clinton-era scandal in which top donors were treated to overnight stays in the Lincoln Bedroom of the White House — look quaint www.rollingstone.com/politics/pol...

Imagine Musk or Trump caring about such quaint proletariat concerns.
Do I have this right? Elon Musk - the guy in charge of preventing wasteful spending - dropped $40M on a Super Bowl ad?

We could permanently house 800 homeless veterans for $40M. Or provide five million meals to the hungry. Or replace lead pipes in 8,500 homes.
