what I learned in the doc was that she didn’t plan on getting pregnant with 8 kids. she wanted one more. her doctor implanted 6 embryos, said they didn’t take, had her agree to implant 6 more while still sedated, and that’s how she ended up with 8.

As a progressive atheist feminist, I obviously have plenty of issues with traditional religious patriarchy, but at least in these systems, men have obligations they're expected to fulfill. Modern misogynists seem to believe they should have the privileges of patriarchy with none of the obligation.

Not entirely her idea. My grandmother and the church we went to had a lot to do with it. She wasn't even all that religious. But she let my grandmother drag me into evangelicalism. My dad's sister was a quiverfull. Evangelicals who have babies specifically to make more evangelicals.
