🙏 GOOD NEWS that MEPs supported today aid for laid off Belgian workers of car glass manufacturer Soliver by mobilising the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund - strong support, only some very extreme right and very neoliberal MEPs voted against or abstained - RCV👇

We have tiny city councils compared to western Europe. Nithya Raman in LA is at least for council expansion and RCV. Would love to hear her endorse PR.

this is why approval & score voting are better than RCV. with RCV you still have to do this exercise 👇
Question on RCV strategies. Let's say >5 candidates are running for same role. I can rank 5 choices. 2 candidates are well known & most likely to win, others are essentially unknown. If the 2 best known include my 1st choice & last choice, how should I rank choices 2-5 (top choice obv gets #1)? Thx!

🗳️ Your vote. Your choices. More power.

On June 16, DC voters can rank up to 5 candidates instead of selecting just one. Start with your top choice, then rank the rest in order. Learn how it works in just one minute 👇  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-VZw4hy_VAI

Rough outline:
- Mass would be combined into one or two multimember districts. Maybe more with House expansion.
- You'd get a vote for a candidate like now (OLPR), or a party (list PR), or rank them (RCV), or a vote for a party *and* and candidate (MMP).

The USDOJ should be completely independent and ultimately answerable by law to Congress. Like the GAO or Federal Reserve.

👇👇Would be nice to see more of this in the discourse. RCV doesn’t help much when redistricting is fucked beyond repair.
Congress could mandate that states use proportional representation, with parties getting a number of seats proportional to their share of the vote. Advocates are already pushing for some states to experiment with this reform.

RCV is a very good idea.
But it won’t fix the core problem:
Which is, when one party or the other grabs a numerical majority, IT and ITS POLICY AGENDA control everything. Ending that is the key to restoring Congress to representing district/state constituents rather than a party’s views.
