"Red Tails" has a great ensemble cast and feels like a movie about the 1940 from the 1940s, with a pulpy aviation war film vibe and its exciting aerial combat sequences. The high-flying visuals from Lucasfilm, on par with the dogfights in Star Wars, really bring the Tuskegee Airmen’s story to life.

Almost forgot (again) that it is Aviation Tail Tuesday! Here's the Turkish Stars support Transall C-160 from RIAT 2008 (on the Friday, since sadly the flying was canceled on the weekend)

Writers have tried to rationalize it: she just couldn't decide on a "symbol" to put there (uh, wouldn't you just leave the fabric blank instead of leaving a hole?); or, she uses her mighty super-cleavage to distract her adversaries. Rilight. Well hey, maybe cousin Superman could distract all the bad guys by wearing a pair of fishnet Speedos? And what's up with calling her Power Girl? "Girl"- she's in her early 20s. people. In fact. bodies also come in lots of different sizes, even among the fit and healthy (take a minute and Google athlete body comparison"). So, you know. maybe not all super women have to be a size 2. CAPES In the words of renowned fashion designer to the world's greatest heroes, Edna Mode. "NO CAPES!" They may look cool when drawn, but in reality, they'd get in the way. or even get you killed. And what deluded Project Runway runner-up concocted PG's weird under-the- armpit cape sling anyway? SUPPORT The key here folks is "support." Regardless of breast size, all the high impact movement of fighting and flying puts a heckuva lota stress on the "girls." At best, it's really annoying: at worst. it's really painful. Not to mention the irreparable tissue damage. WOMEN'S SUPERHERO COSTUMES REVAMPED BY INGVARD THE TERRIBLE MS MARVEL the new design takes ms marvel’s classic 80s black one piece swimsuit look but makes it another armored bodysuit with ugly grey mail where her skin would be revealed. her hair is cut very short, her lighting bolt symbol is shrunk, and she now wears huge aviation goggles around the illustration there are blocks of explanatory text COSTUME While Carol Danvers has actually been promoted to Captain Marvel, that costume is actually decent (in both senses of the word), It's that swimsuit-with-thigh highs-and-stripper-gloves nonsense she wore as Ms Marvel that needed an overhaul. This design still hints at the more familiar look, but will actually, you know-protect her. DISGUISE Even today. the go-to devise for superheroes wanting to protect their true identity has typically been the good ol" "domino mask." Really? Still? It's 2015-we have robots roaming around Mars and computers that fit in our hand, but we still rely on centuries old Venetian party-wear? Time for a serious technological upgrade, boys and girls. HAIR In addition to getting a girl's hair out of the way, there's something else comic creators obviously haven't noticed about the female of our species. In comics-with the exception of color-every super-lady out there sports the exact same long, flowing coiffure. But take a look around. Women have more ways to style and cut their hair than you could fit on a single Pinterest board, This is due largely to the fact that women, believe it or not. actually have personalities and preferences. So hey, why not punk it up a bit? FORENSICS For the longest time, if you wanted to learn a superhero's secret identity you had to physically unmask them-if you could catch them first. These days, all you'd need is a single fingerprint or strand of hair left behind at the scene. Not to let science put a damper on enjoying our little fantasy diversions. but at least maybe they should wear some gloves? WOMEN'S SUPERHERO COSTUMES REVAMPED BY INVARD THE TERRIBLE WWW.INGVARD.COM ELEKTRA the vibrant red of elektra’s comic look is replaced with rusty brown and is now a full body ninja suit with more ugly armor panels. her hair is all cut off and she has a vestigial skirt around her waist. there are blocks of explanatory text around the illustration HAIR To keep a ton of hair from getting in a woman's way when fighting crime-or committing it, in Elektra's case-one could always opt for a much shorter "do. DESIGN Okay. sooo... Batman has no powers, is an expert in martial arts, and sports a full-on, bullet-proof bat-suit. Elektra also has no powers, is an expert martial artist, but runs around wearing a swim-suit. With a bunch of... weird... streamer things flapping about. Seriously. what are those even for? Oh, and all of it bright red? Uh, do you want to be spotted? Are you trying to get caught? DISGUISE "Hey, someone assassinated that guy. Did anyone see who did it?* "Yeah, it was Elektra Natchios. Lives in Queens." You see, in the real world, professional assassins and mercenaries worth their pay know that being recognized is bad for business. And, you know-staying alive. Here, Elektra's penchant for sassy headwear can also transform into a quick disguise. STORAGE And where exactly on that shredded Victoria's Secret knock-off of a costume would she even keep all those antiquated weapons she seems so fond of? Or her house keys for that matter.
