It’s an RNA world. RNA is posited to be the first genetic material, arising 4 billion years ago. It can store information and act as an enzyme. Eventually, it duplicated its information into a more stable form, DNA.

THIS IS HUGE! Researchers at The Jackson Laboratory and UConn Health have successfully discovered a molecular switch that can actually SHUT DOWN cancer growth signals and STOP tumor growth at the RNA LEVEL. The discovery could pave the way for a groundbreaking RNA-based multi-cancer treatment. 🧪🧵⬇️

The effectiveness of propaganda. A friend who is an MD who I have always thought of as evidence based said she isn’t going to get any more RNA based vaccines. She has not had a negative vaccine reaction and she can’t really put into words why she doesn’t trust them.

Virtually all life now is based on DNA. But it is generally agreed that the most plausible hypothesis of the emergence of life involves the “RNA world,” a biosphere whose genetic material was based entirely on the more fragile RNA. DNA is a hardened, resilient form of RNA, and was selected for.

How are mRNAs linked to molecular motors in mammalian cells?

In our new preprint, we show that FXR1/2 are RNA adaptors for the microtubule motor dynein. Our findings have also prompted us to rethink how activating adaptors contribute to motor-based transport (1/n)

Hi all! Inspired by how easy ColabFold ( @sokrypton.org ) made prot structure prediction for me, I have started ColabRNA to facilitate making predictions with RNA-based models!

Currently, the following models are available:
- SpliceAI
- Pangolin
- SpliceTransformer
- Borzoi

Happy to get feedback!

Would also make something made of relatively unstable RNA (like the Proteavirus itself) much more stable, which allows more room for the obscene complexity it possesses for an RNA-based lifeform (yes, unlike Earth viruses, you can consider it "alive")
