#RPGNet
There is a thread on RPGNet about the Dungeon Fantasy RPG that makes me itching to run #gurps again.

Won't happen with my current gaming group, alas. And I don't have the time to start any additional groups. But I can dream...

Out of curiosity, has anyone else been blocked from #rpgnet by #cloudflare, or is it just me?

To quote the infamous F.A.T.A.L. game review:

"[They] aren't even wannabe rapists.

They're rapists' cheerleaders.

Think about how pathetic that is."

Oh, it's been years since I lasted gave my time to one, but it mostly were the individuals that used to cover TTRPGS on YouTube or those who were constant in their RPGNet coverage of new games and starter sets.
Most never had a kind word for the sample adventures included in any given core rulebook

Some of my early company histories were at RPGnet, including Imperium (the first history I ever wrote!) and (I think) GDW, but This is Free Trader Beowulf was researched and written from scratch.

One of my favorite projects ever!

oh wow just found the rpgnet thread where I proposed it in 2009. Things have dated interestingly.

Good to know! No shade to John Harper or anyone else but Doskvol feels like something that would have been made in an RPGNet thread. The appeal to gamers is obvious, but it doesn’t really do anything for me.

This reminds me of how the RPGnet forums used to have a "no personal attacks" rule which meant you couldn't say things like "you're a stupid fucking moron," and so what people would so is say "this opinion of yours seems like the sort of thing only a stupid fucking moron could believe"

In 2023, news people who just retweeted rights groups comments on Gaza were summarily sacked, students were attacked, online communities like reddit and rpgnet had similar leanings. Decency is starting to come through.

Someone tell rpgnet while we're at it.

True, but you picked a topic to drop this where I've actually DONE legwork - I've run polls and discussions about which mechanics people drop on multi-thousand user forums (One that I can recall on ENWorld, a few on RPGnet) in years past, because this is a particular interest to me.

I never had the displeasure of reading FATAL, but I remember that it and RaHoWa became known as "The games that shall not be mentioned," on RPGnet.

Both sounded like they were not just EVIL, but badly designed.

I usually run conspiracy YouTube stuff in the background. Today one just started talking about the Hybrid RPG l, which first appeared on RPGnet a loooooong time ago. Took me back. (At the 13.48 mark.)

Pookie’s blog, RPGnet, online searches ending on some random person’s youtube channel or blog (I myself have a few reviews) but sometimes it ends with someone Ik ow (Guy Milner, Alexandrian, etc), but mostly friends on Bluesky, Discord, or at the Mitchester’s Arms pub on Friday

The RPGnet forums, like much of Bluesky, hate AI and will go burn-the-witches at any mention of it. Yet, right now, there's a discussion of the new WFRP 5th edition; someone shared a Claude-created document of the changes, and people are praising how "well written, formatted, and thought out" it is.

Anybody know what's up with the RPGnet Index?

At some point this place will be like rpgnet right before I quit, when approximately 90% of all threads were just scrolling past BLOCKED replacing text from all the dipshits

It's old school, but I recently rediscovered forum.rpg.net. They're quite active and have a lot of resources for ttrpgs.

More geekily, I have a little post on the subject in an old RPGnet thread that I'm a bit proud of: forum.rpg.net/index.php?th...

Of course, the real problem with the whole "replicated food is inferior" thing can be summed up in "Where are the sommeliers on the Enterprise D?"
