Prophylactic Retinopexy in the Fellow Eye after Contralateral Retinal Detachment: Beyond the Pooled Estimate

Fellow eyes of patients with rhegmatogenous retinal detachment (RRD) are at high risk, with an RRD incidence averaging about 1% per year and cumulative risk approaching 10% over a decade—approximately 100-fold higher than the incidence of RRD in the general population.1,2 Prophylactic treatment to reduce this risk is therefore intuitively attractive. Yet, questions remain regarding whether, when, and how to treat. The most recent American Academy of Ophthalmology Preferred Practice Pattern states that for lattice degeneration or atrophic holes in fellow eyes after RRD, there is “no consensus on treatment and insufficient evidence to guide management.”2

Unfortunately anti-worker non-compete or creative ownership clauses are common in games dev.

I’ve fought against them my entire career, so I’m thrilled to see folk talking about them in a high profile case like this.

Fun fact: One of the reasons I joined RRD is cause we’re morally opposed to them!
