They continue to charge rent even though no one is living there, they often insist on new kitchens and bathrooms, plus repainting and recarpeting, and they don't put it back on the market for months, so rent/rates/water etc needs to be paid. (those are a few of the scams.)

Yes but as the previous tenants had been in for 8 years, I can't imagine their deposit was more than about £1k and I would think the recarpeting would have come close to that! Plus 2 new bathrooms. It's the kitchen they didn't bother with, not like that's important...

I'm thinking next summer is my recarpeting the bedrooms summer, and I'm just dreading it. I don't mind the expense because I can save for that, it's moving all the stuff out while it's being done, and then back in again.

It should have been, but they were served notice for the state the property was in. I can only imagine that the deposit was used to finance the bathroom refit (honestly, I dread to think) and the complete recarpeting upstairs and redecoration. Can't have been a lot left for a full clean.

We're already up to $1400 of plumbing before we even start on the deconstruction/construction/drying/recarpeting/repainting parts- so far insurance has covered $150 of that 💀

Four IAF-controlled civil airports will face temporary shutdowns as their runways need recarpeting for smooth operations of both military and civil aircraft. As the runways at Jodhpur, Srinagar, Pune and Adampur airports will be recarpeted under different schedules this year, civilian flights at these airports will be affected during their respective shutdown periods.Starting with the Jodhpur airport, the IAF has issued a 'Notice to Airmen (NOTAM)' for runway re-carpeting and, therefore, civilian flight operations at the airport will remain suspended for nearly a month from Mar 29 to April 27. The runway re-carpeting will be carried out in three phases, and the last phase is expected to be completed by May.

Here it is in all its Winchester Mystery glory, alternately called the Frankendesk. The door to the lower left falls off. Haven't fixed it yet.

KeNHA has announced a partial closure of Thika Superhighway at Juja Highpoint to allow milling and recarpeting works. The repairs will take place overnight on November 8–9 from 11:00 pm to 6:00 am, and again during the day on November 15–16 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.
