It is 100% true to say that Clinton and the mainstream of the Democratic Party did a great deal to further entrench this paradigm. But inflation-phobia — and the concomitant reconceptualization of the citizen as consumer — was a political economic project that encompassed the entire elite class.

ultimately the struggle around transness is also a struggle around the reconceptualization of (the regime of) sex and the sexed body - i would add, not unlike the struggle to decouple sex (the thing you do with people) as a relationship of shared pleasure vs sex as heterosexual reproduction

I think many Canadians would be open to this relationship, or at the very least. the reconceptualization of a defense agreement that excludes the USA who has so far threatened two existing NATO members (Canada, Denmark) and thrown shade at many more.

The bones of this argument as presented are pretty chilling, and hint at a wholesale reconceptualization of the relationship between citizen and state.
One chilling implication of this bonkers (but still horrifying) argument is the “one cannot give allegiance and promise to be bound by the laws through and act of defiance of those laws.”
