If FanExpo decides that they’re cool with having AI booths at their Canadian shows, expect them to continue with their U.S. shows. Megacon, Denver, Boston, Chicago, SF? All of them will have gAI booths. If you’re an attendee, make it known you won’t buy tickets to any show with AI.
Now that FanExpo is wrapped, I can say that while we were unsuccessful in getting the Bell AI booth removed, it created a big convo with both companies. I’m so proud of everyone who spoke up and made it an issue they couldn’t ignore.

This is such a short-sighted decision by WotC and ReedPop. In a time when the rights of women, trans people, and queer people are being eroded at all levels of government, it’s of utmost importance to protect the most marginalized parts of the Magic community. I hope WotC and ReedPop reconsider.
Unfortunately we have been told that there will not be space for us to have our Safe Playspace at future MagicCons. :(

fwiw, i don't think it's useful to yell at ReedPop/BookCon. they DON'T have a contract with ICE--the giant company that owns ReedPop also owns LexisNexis, which does. this is, frankly, a thin fucking thread to pull, but we decided to pull it anyway 🤷
