Watching the Parking & Traffic Commission meeting - what is the cost to improve/create a cross walk? (If it has already been engineered and just needs restriping/lights vs a brand new crosswalk?) The engineer speaking said they take requests seriously after there has been an incident. (After?)

I appreciate the restriping of the bike lanes on Montezuma with a buffer.
I’d also appreciate if the city actually kept the bike lane clear of vegetation.
And I’m wondering if/when the rest of the flex posts will be installed.

Los Angeles is trying to avoid HLA by claiming that it is “restriping without making other improvements” when, in fact, it’s making many other changes across multiple projects.
This behavior must stop.

It’s been a long wait, I’m so happy to see this! I hope CDOT can better prioritize restriping bike lanes after resurfacing.

Paving is starting on 18th/17th St in W Oakland next week, Market to MLK. Restriping will follow, adding a road diet and buffered bike lane, changing to post-separated on 17th at the 980 overpass

It's great to see Aurora on this list. Shout out to ARC leader @olraca.bsky.social and our hardworking colleagues. We've been pushing for immediate action (restriping, tactical bike lanes, new crossings) and not waiting around for a complete rebuild in the year 3000.
I guess this is a good time to plug reconnecting Fremont.

I’ve seen some spot restriping out and about recently. Intersections only seems like a good way to stretch a dollar, given how many crashes happen at intersections

let me know what you tell them, i'm curious about what sorts of feedback they receive on this. the proposed plan looks fairly good to me but could go farther. like have we considered restriping down to ONE lane? why did we settle on two or three

I talked to some city staffers who were busy restriping this intersection (Stuart/Grant) with high-viz crosswalks and they told me, incredibly, that it's being converted to an all-way stop!

And probably an unpopular opinion, but that section of west main is definitely wide enough for a restriping with a defined parking area, loading area, and protected bike lanes.

It feels like with the recent repaving and restriping they missed a good opportunity to stripe a bi-directional bike lane with flappy sticks on the sidewalk-less side.

Quick and easy solutions to traffic violence. Reduce stress with UBI. Strongly encourage people to drive more slowly by restriping lanes. Put up some quick barriers to make protected bike lanes and add robust infrastructure bit by bit and voila, a better world.

That's why DOT has been not building new curbside bus lanes, and actively going to older bus lanes and restriping them as offset bus lanes.

Board of Public Works accepted this restriping loophole for Hollywood east of Taft. Project included partial resurfacing, lane/parking reconfiguration, bollards, signs… but BPW says it doesn’t need missing wheelchair access, because that’s just “restriping”without other improvements

@jasondozier.bsky.social, will we be getting an extension of the cycle track of Centennial Olympic Park Drive / Techwood or are we just getting restriping of the vehicular lanes post resurfacing? Resurfacing and at least temporary striping underway… don’t see anything for bikes yet…

Councilmember questions. Hernandez: what constitutes improvements - just basic restriping? City Attorney: just restriping does not trigger during just-restriping. City can't change scope of HLA - but city can comply by restriping bus lanes - before resurfacing.

Next up was my appeal of Melrose Avenue, where LADOT added parking instead of protected bike lanes in the city plan. The BPW denied my appeal terming adding parking "restriping without other improvements" (despite this project not actually even including restriping - the city scraped away stripes)
