I know the Rockies stink but Eric Lauer going into Coors and absolutely shoving for 7 innings to drop his ERA to 2.59 is some real Baseball Gonna Baseball stuff

The Giants have had awful bullpens before, but they’ve never had blow-ninth-inning-leads-to-the-Rockies-at-Oracle bullpens before. A new era. They said it couldn’t be done.

The biggest tragedy in baseball right now might seem like the Colorado Rockies, but it's actually the Texas Rangers who have the lowest team ERA and the highest DefEff and Fielding%. The best defense in MLB by a considerable margin and they are third in their division.

Rockies officially just the 12th team of the "World Series era" (post 1903) to allow 1,000 runs. First this century, and first since ... 1999 Rockies
The Rockies' 955 runs allowed are already the 27th most since 1900. 6.4 per game. If they hit that average over final 12 games, they will finish with 1,031 allowed, seventh most all time. No team has allowed 1,000 runs this century

Rockies finish the first half of the season at 18-63, they're on pace for a modern era worst record of 36-126.

No better time for internal promotions!

The Rockies' 4-24 start is the worst start to a season by a National League team in the Modern Era (since 1901).

Teams in the last 80 years to have a Team ERA over 6.00 (in a full season):

1. 1996 Tigers: 6.38 ERA
2. 1999 Rockies: 6.03 ERA
3. 2025 Rockies: 6.01 ERA

Rolison explaining his 7.02 career ERA: maybe it's the Rockies player development, maybe it's just all the DEI in the Rockies organization.

Huh.

Per the Rockies:

“The Rockies have gone 203 consecutive games allowing at least one run, the longest streak without a shutout in the Modern Era. They surpassed the St. Louis Browns, who previously held the 199-game record between 1939-40.”

recalling a 2000s era article where a small town in the Rockies basically kicked the Westboro Baptist Church people out because they were annoying everyone and one of the quotes from the residents was "I don't like them. They need to leave our homos alone"

The Rockies are bad, but Walker once again looks like a guy who can pitch 150-170 innings of ~100 ERA+ baseball.

New from me:

The Rockies set the modern record for worst run differential — minus-424!

So where should they rank in the Worst Team Ever conversation?

No team had been outscored by that many runs in a season since the infamous 1899 Cleveland Spiders.

#Rockies snap a five-game losing streak for win no. 42 of the year.

They will not be tying the Modern Era record for most losses in a season.
