This is a perfect example, however, of how poorly executed the writing is here. It’s like she read all the comments on a popular romatasy fanfic and smushed it into a novel with a premise so vague it makes Twilight look like the Odyssey.

Looking for a grand, adventurous, gay high fantasy!

Hi all! I've been in both a bit of a fantasy and also a bit of a hopeless romantic mood. The market for romatasy is rife, but as a queer person myself, I've been struggling to find a good gay fantasy, especially …

A while back I read a fiction Cleopatra book that made me mad. It was a defanged Disney-fied romatasy of one of the boldest women in history.

So I sought out books that were non Roman biographies of Cleopatra. It wasn't always pretty but it was strength.

This fixed me.

The book community comes out in numbers for these nights. At the SF Giants game, there was a Romatasy book club that was going around giving out friendship bracelets with their info. Lots of book clubs who came out to the game together. Was a good representation of macro and micro community

Romatasy is more popular online and contemporary romance is the older crowd that’s not as online unless you count the college x hockey-ish books. Emily Henry and Christina Lauren are for the tired oldies like me.

I think my writer energies possessed me and made me enter a flow state. Since I just hashed out a rough outline for my next book, a sapphic romatasy, and I’m now excited to take a crack at it.
Only problem is I got to finish edits of my first one 😔

Naturally I went so here's a haul and then photos of their vibey romantasy section and their signature wall
Haul that shows: Spicy Librarian tote, 2 cockmarks (one with flowers, one dressed up like a cowboy), a bookstack hair clip, stickers: "warning: horny and highly literate", Colorado flag with flowers, "I refuse to argue with people that should have been swallowed", two pink knife bookmarks that say "Villans fuck better" and "don't be mean it turns me on". The books are: A Dowry of Blood, The Honey Witch, The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches, Paladin’s Grace, Fossil Feud The romatasy section that has a forest wallpaper and ivy A white wall with kiss marks all over it and signatures and it says "Kiss me like you'd ruin me"

I think there's more truth to this than most on Bsky are willing to admit. It's worded poorly but I own a kindle where I basically exclusively buy like Discworld novels and the like, and the only ads for new books I ever see are 90% romatasy and 10% Dungeon Crawler Carl(which is absolutely terrible)

It's so stupid omg
So much shitstorm because they couldn't be bothered to appreciate a subgenre w/o shitting on another. Is it so hard to do?

Title is awful. It's closer to Joe Abecrombie than Sanderson, if that makes sense. It does pertain to love stories but not like you're imaging in the romatasy kind of way. Much more in line with our flavor of entertainment.

Thank u for opening this opportunity.

I’m an Aussie that is a dual British citizen that lives in the UK, so I don’t know if I count.
But I do fantasy/romatasy covers.

Here r some examples of my work with books I’ve done for the wonderful

A green book cover, illustrating a young, beautiful and freckled man laying back in a state of deeply satisfied pleasure over a decorative pile of fruits and flowers. His wavy brown hair folds under his head and his parted lips revealing a pair of vampiric teeth. He is only seen from the chest up, so the source of his pleasure is a mystery, but his closed eyes suggest that whatever the source be, it is inspiring a state of bliss. The title of the book is white over the shadows of the fruit and reads ‘Dress the Neck Becomingly, by Emmaline Strange’ A book cover for Mochizuki & Xlato by Noah Hawthorne, also known as Aelina Isaacs, illustrating a pale vampire, wearing a white shirt with the sleeves rolled up, a dark waist coat and dark slacks, laying on his back in the wet midnight grass. He smokes a cigarette, whose strong tobaccan smoke wafts in the air in a thick stylized current, floating into the moonlight and carrying his lower body up with it. He doesn't pay it any heed though, because he is looking for aliens. His attention is entirely consumed looking into the end of the brass telescope that he lays under, adjusting dials and tilting the angle because some exterior force keeps subtly shifting the scope. That force, meddling with the telescope, is the incredibly obvious alien floating in the smoke. They are a huge being, large enough to near fill the cover with their imposing girth, and they are a handsome one with all the charisma of the god Dionysus and the quiet personal amusement of the fey. They have grey skin that glitters with the fragmented hues of opals between patterns like a shark that are most apparent in their long ribbon like ear lobes. Their half lidded eyes are black with white irises and look down over a shallow wide nose with condensing humour at the vampire looking for them. They're not exactly a danity creature, at least a plump four times the width of the vampire, and even in the dark they glow from the gills slicing through their cheeks and neck. What's more they are not a modest dresser, in open flowing robes that themselves are transparent, and a silk scarf with jingling celestial jewellery. But still, in the starry night they remain unnoticed and amuse themselves with this fact by gently pushing the telescope that is being utilised to find them. A busy market street in a modern town with tudor architecture. A warm glow illuminates the crowds & stores that line the road. There is a seasonal festival evident over this hustle; decorations of red & gold bunting and flags crisscrossed cross over head, and sunflowers have been pinned up on the beams and roof tops. Between all the people, two men have seen each other. A tall brown man, with a mane of curly black hair, wearing a knitted rainbow duster, looks over his shoulder with the confusion of a clouded memory. He has arms full of shopping in paper bag, herbs, flowers and bottles, he has to be on his way and the crowd is moving, but still he lingers as he looks at the other man. The other man is small, thin, freckled and has a shock of red hair that is firey in the dawn light, he is taking the hood of his green jersey like he is going to pull it over his head, but before he does he looks back at the second man. The heaviness of his heart and thin hope are evident in his face. An art Nouveau style cover in a palette of sunset oranges & aqua green. In the frame, decorated with grass & leaves, is a pair of men in a comedic state of conflict & outrageously forward flirting. The 1st is a kings guard, in an attire between that of a roman & greek man of a captains station at the palace who takes himself & his job very seriously, however the formality of his fashion is somewhat curbed by his long hair which is shaven on one side to reveal a floral tattoo. This tattoo & free flowing hair seem to be the end of his sense of joy though, since the statue of the summer god in his vicinity has just woken, & before all the life has returned to the god he has all ready grabbed the guard & pulled him back for a kiss. The guard is not taking this well, evident in his affronted expression & drawing of sword. This situation isn’t improved by the fact that he had to grab the gods thigh is steady himself from falling. The god, a feckled pixie like red head, will be thrilled by all of this.
