Anyone else getting Ruabon red brick vibes from this new Wrexham Kop teaser released by the club?

2/2: The 'J C Edwards of Ruabon' brick is probably very rare in London! Ruabon is in Denbighshire, Wales, and this brickmakers was active 1903-1956, founded by James Coster Edwards. The other one - Farnley Ironclay near Leeds - is a very familiar one, but these are particularly attractive bricks.

And it’s illegal, banned in Wales and Scotland. Not yet in England. This footage from Ruabon Moor, captured by The Green Britain Foundation, shows illegal traps laid after the ban - it’s another example of how our countryside and wildlife are abused by big landowners in pursuit of money.

A police investigation has been launched after the satellite tag from a missing Hen Harrier was found to have been deliberately cut from its harness on Ruabon Moor, one of the UK's most infamous bird of prey persecution hot-spots:

There’s nothing left of the medieval church at Whittington which was demolished in 1804, but its Georgian brick successor still looks a fine building & has some nice Ruabon sourced detailing round the windows. The medieval font survives in the porch & some window tracery in the castle gatehouse

Not sure what exactly this is - chimney pot? - but it is an example inside Cardiff’s Pierhead building of some of the terracotta decorations made by JC Edwards & Co, Ruabon. Ruabon was found to be a source of Etruria Marl clay in the late 19th c, its high iron content resulting in a rich red colour

Conflicting information suggests that either Ruabon or nearby Wrexham became nicknamed “Terracottapolis” at the height of brick and tile manufacture using the beautiful clay from the area.
