Combat wheelchair rulesets in ttrpgs are a great way to filter out the type of guy who gets really mad about combat wheelchair rulesets, who's typically going to be a pain in the ass to have at the table anyway

The rules and rulesets you create don't have to answer to people who don't choose to use them. They have to answer to the people who do choose to use them.

This one has lots of neat rulesets for injury, but those anatomical illustrations were all kinda... saucy.

@dotolie.bsky.social @plumpling.bsky.social and @mrpecu.bsky.social don't need ALL their organs, right? Says so right here in the manual.

So, “Order of the Sinking Star” by Thekla was just announced, which takes several small free games (two of which are mine) and gives them a major graphical upgrade and mashes up their rulesets. I haven’t been very involved but it’s a great concept and looks cool.

Mechanical complexity is a tool to be wielded responsibly, not a hazard to be avoided. TTRPGs with very freeform, sparse rulesets are not good teaching tools for players new to the medium. Mechanical idiosyncrasy is not the work of Satan.

And D&D 5E is not the WORST system to start out with.

H.G. Wells put together one of the first modern wargaming rulesets and by all accounts was spectacularly annoying about it

the only real answer to “what is a woman?” is “it’s complicated! but it’s the kind of complicated that the human brain is particularly good at handling with broad rulesets, noted exceptions, and allowances for overrides like self-identification”

No glory, no glamour, no headline applause,
Just windows of PowerShell tightening the laws.
The spam floods the inbox, the malware’s in flight,
But Swift’s dropping rulesets firing flares in the night.

Fun fact: Due to hyper-segregated separation-of-duties roles required by the most stringent compliance/financial/military/intelligence rulesets, at least Azure (only I've talked to) engineers cannot even visit production Azure facilities without special exceptions. They may go to a research location

If you know N languages you actually know N² languages, because you can combine their vocabs and grammatical rulesets to make new languages

Spent multiple hours today wrestling with GitHub actions, repository rulesets, and permissions to discover that I was missing a token: ${{ secrets.ACCESS_TOKEN }} in checkout.

I hate coding on other people's computers. It's the least convenient place to debug. Give me local or give me death. 😤

i dont like cellular automata research because i know one of the rulesets is going to be isomorphic to the feed from a camera that doesnt exist which follows me around 24/7
results from running my search for interesting neural cellular automata overnight

Theologians are pretty much folks who argue dnd rulesets between editions until the indie developer reminds them other faiths exist.
