EXT. MINIVAN - BY THE SHOWER BLOCK - NIGHT Headlights pool on a dismal cinderblock wall. Madison covertly hits record on her phone, panning around as the others haul out their backpacks. JOE (O.S.) You’re late. There a problem, son? Startled, Madison wheels around to see... ...JOE WILSON (40s, lanky good looks, jeans tucked into rustbrown boots), astride an electric quad bike. Expecting trouble, Tori huddles in on herself, but Kyle’s all puppy-dog smiles and eagerness to please. KYLE No. No problem at all. Joe doesn’t smile back. Thoughtful, keys jangling on their long chain, he takes in the oddball mob. ...Emma, a model on the run from the runway... Hmmm... ...Tori, downcast, backpack held like a shield... Quitter. ...Crow, all in black, and all out of place, eyeballing him from behind those mirrors... Interesting... ... And Madison, recording on her phone... She’ll do. JOE There’s a bus into town tomorrow. Down the drive, hang a left and walk an hour or so. It goes through at eight a.m. Gets there by four. He stares at Madison. She stares right back. JOE If you want to be on it, keep filming. I got Americans desperate for visas coming out of my ears. Emma glares at Madison - gestures to the phone. Madison folds, shoves her phone in her pocket. Not content, Joe stares at her until she drops her gaze. He turns to Crow, whose eyes are hidden behind mirror shades. A rust-blood coloured feature, a little mangled, against a pale blue background.
