I watched the first two episodes of The East Palace and now I want to watch Exhuma AND Kingdom (the Korean zombie saeguk series) again.

Lastly, I'm by all means not an expert whatsoever on this topic, but these are all some of the Joseon customs that I'm not familiar with before I started any saeguk.
Learning these hidden narrative tools just made me appreciate saeguk #kdrama a bit more, so hopefully it does the same for you.

I think this will be my next deep dive, because I've watched several saeguk #kdrama titles now and still don't really understand how Ancient Joseon Kingdom monarchy system works.
Especially their administrations when compared to a European Monarchy or Japanese Shogunate.
Lots of reading for sure.

I never understand how the Kingdom of Joseon system ever work. How can 1 person that's not the king and not part of the royal family have this much power in the palace.
And does the king really have no army of his own? where are the royal guards?

I can't explain my drama-watching path...I just get in moods and I *need* to watch a particular type of drama. I was on a heavy chinese costume drama kick, but then I *needed* to watch a modern cdrama next. I am having modern kdrama cravings now?? Lord knows what's next. Saeguk?

My Joseon hair-style light research made me wonder on another thing that pique my interest on saeguk #kdrama.
Particularly why did hair held such a significant role in that society to the point that Go Ae-shin brandished a knife in fury to Gu Dong-mae in #MrSunshine after he cut her hair.

Kdrama updates
No Tail to Tell is currently on hold. its a bit slow and I feel it would be better digested if it was a binge.
To My Beloved Thief. Another saeguk thats piqued my interest. I have some prob. w/ the acting but the story is solid.
Dropped Spring Fever I couldn't get past ep 3.

Binged every episode of #BonAppetitYourMajesty so far. It’s going to be so hard waiting for the new episodes to drop this weekend. Your girl loves a good saeguk, culinary focus / food shots, romance and some political intrigue! Officially out of my #Kdrama slump! 👩🍳🌀

Queen Woo (kdrama 2024)
Impresionante saeguk con una de las mejores actuaciones femeninas del año de Jeon Jong-seo.
Conspiraciones palaciales, violentas batallas, emocion y mucha épica.

I am so glad I preserved this on my personal #Plex media server, but if you don't, go watch it.
Comedy, court-intrigue, enemy to lover, electric leads chemistry, Shin Hye-sun's supremacy, it has everything a #kdrama can give you, and basically one of THE best saeguk themed drama I've watched yet.

Started The Haunted Palace tonight, and enjoyed all the different plot elements! Don't think we've watched a saeguk with supernatural/fantasy elements (other than zombies...) before! And there's clearly a lot of palace drama and politics going on, which is always fun. #THPdrama

Right, I think I'm gonna focus on why Joseon kings looked sooooo weak for a so-called ruler. Most saeguk depicts them as nothing more than a political puppets or a gilded prisoner, really ran in contrast on what I know about a leader from Europan monarchy and Japanese Shogunate.
