The only thing people actually use GenAI for:

- Scams
- Grifts
- Fraud
- Assorted Crimes
“As it stands, if people don’t like what they hear, they can simply turn something off; the system outlined by Microsoft describes an environment where people can instead adjust someone else’s speech to their personal taste.”
Microsoft Patents an AI That Can Literally Put Words in People's Mouths in Real Time
Microsoft just filed a patent for an AI product that would be able to transform live video in real time to alter speakers' words and faces.

This goes really well with the endless proliferation of various kinds of scams.
Vivian did not disclose she was an AI agent. Called me and said “we have your insurance as Blue Cross?” I said that’s wrong. She then asked for my insurance info. I said it’s already in your system, I was just at your facility. She said “oh I can’t access that, let me transfer you to the front desk”
Called place where I’m getting ultrasound today:

“Uh..I just got a call from one of your employees saying I need a different test and she had my address and insurance provider wrong and didn’t know if any of this is covered?”

Receptionist: “oh yeah that’s our AI agent Vivian. She gets confused!”

Beware of such lowlife scams

As ever, the ONLY real use case for Ai is theft, fraud, scams, and abuse.

Daycare and healthcare are “little scams”?
#TrumpIsUnraveling
This is wild to say just days before an election. Maybe Trump doesn’t realize he’s saying this stupid shit out loud.

Avoiding scams on here is rather easy imo

America is just a bunch of scams in a trench coat.

Gen AI's biggest real-world use case is theft & scams.
An author that I made five covers for in a series used ai to clone my style and generate a sixth cover. This is the third time this happened to me this month with long-term clients.

I am sick with rage

Just an idle thought but if by doing so North Korea can just waltz in and steal a quarter of their GNP at will, maybe we shouldn't allow people to trade using an unregulated currency mostly used for money laundering, scams, ransomware, pump and dumps, evading sanctions, and bribing the US president.

This isn’t me endorsing China, which objectively DOES do all kinds of shady shit with user data, worker protections, unsafe products, and scams (among other sins).

But US companies gleefully have decided to give up the moral superiority many believed they had in their business practices over China.

Too many Scams, Phishing, and BS is happening.
Hey streamers/influencers/artists/anyone with any social media presence:

There's a site that's currently using your publicly available data to build fake sponsorship listings to ruin your reputation and potentially keep sponsorship money that you'll never see!

Let's look at SocialDB ->

This is why i don't agree with people that abuse people that call or email scams like this. A lot of them are trapped. Don't fall for the scams, but don't abuse them either.
"Last year, authorities raided a facility in Bamban, north of Manila, freeing nearly 700 people who had been trapped there and forced to work as scammers." Poor sods. Those fake book club mails you keep getting? They're part of a massive industry.
Like many authors, I’m bombarded by scam fan mail. I wasn’t prepared for what would happen when I wrote back
The novelist receives passionate AI-written emails almost every day – but when he decided to take up one sender’s offer to find him new readers, the story took a darker turn

14/ The thread below describes the history of these and other similar scams in Russia's military communications programmes. The net result has been widespread inefficiencies and insecurity in its tactical communications, with no resolution in sight. /end

1/ Why has Russia failed so abysmally at providing secure battlefield communications to its troops in Ukraine? The answer, concludes Russian warblogger Oleg Tsarev, is that the military communications budget has been looted for years by corrupt generals and contractors. ⬇️
