Bluesky hive mind request 🧪 #ScienceHistory
Also wanted: a few days ago there were lists going around with economy-and-society changing technologies that were developed using federal grant funds initially. Things like “the internet.”

Help me find this?

Thanks
Wanted:

A few days ago I saw stats about “for every dollar spent on an NSF grant, there’s ____ economic impact on communities” or something

I need that stat for an open letter for scientists and now can’t find it.

Also similar stats for EPA, NOAA, NIH grants etc would be useful here. 🧪

Michael Faraday was born #OnThisDay in 1791. He is most famous for his experiments in electromagnetism and his efforts to engage the public in science through the Christmas Lectures, though he came from humble beginnings as Dame Julia Higgins tells Brian Cox.

The combined MMR vaccine, developed by Dr. Maurice Hilleman in 1971, “is more convenient for patients, and this convenience actually saves lives. Fewer injections translate as fewer missed doses, and therefore more protection in a shorter time. The MMR vaccine has saved millions of lives worldwide.”
