When I did my #Archaeology field school, my trench-mates and I all fell in love with #Roman oil lamps. I’m not sure what it is about them but we all wanted to find one intact (we didn’t 😞). These lovely lamps were found on the #Thames foreshore and displayed as part of #SecretsoftheThames

#SecretsoftheThames used the #moon as its symbol because the moon creates the tides that make #mudlarking as we know it possible. The grand finale was this stunning inflatable moon by artist #LukeJerram. You could spend hours just staring at all the craters covering its glowing surface.

#SecretsoftheThames had themed displays, this one was about exploitation. With artifacts such as tobacco pipes made by a #Jamestown settler and glass beads once traded for enslaved Africans, this assemblage acknowledges the way much of London’s wealth has been drawn from slavery and colonialism.

Can anyone read the date on the Sasanian coin of Ḵusrō II from the London Museum Docklands mudlarking exhibit? I think it must predate ry. 13 (602/3), as later coins are better engraved. Could it plausibly be ry. 6 (štʾ) (595/96)? I'm terrible at reading dates.
