Nature Synthesis, Published online: 28 October 2026; doi:10.1038/s44160-026-01203-4Using an artificial intelligence-guided framework combining retrosynthetic prediction, high-throughput DFT screening and chemical expertise, a readily synthesizable self-assembled monolayer for perovskite photovoltaics is identified. The top candidate delivers 27.2% efficiency and retains >95% of its initial efficiency after 2,000 h at 65 °C under maximum-power-point tracking.

Buried among the slugs and muck, forgotten to the ruin of the fog, a curious sword from antiquity awaits a new master. Seemingly immaterial, but humming with inscrutable power, it strikes the eye like a beam of pale moonlight. A golem of garbage, assembled haphazardly by the thick, colorless fog, emerges from the muck and sets upon our hero, expelling plague flies in a thick miasma. Purifying flame delivers its oblivion and our hero, now unstoppable, proceeds to the heart of darkness. At the bottom of the Valley Defilement, a Demon's Soul awaits, but no demon. The Maiden Astraea journeyed to the valley on holy pilgrimage, a mission of mercy to give aid and comfort to its suffering inhabitants who, she believes, are still redeemable. Intending to act as steward of the arch-demon soul, though, she ultimately performs its same role in offering only immaterial salvation. Thoughts and prayers cannot feed the hungry nor heal the sick. Astraea's loyal knight Garl Vinland joined her on her quest and has stayed by her side, even as she slowly loses her self to the demon's soul she sought to command. Unable to fully understand the cosmic play he finds himself a part of, faith in his lady is all that he requires to act- even if it means ultimate sacrifice.

My workbench is covered in handmade watercolour paint sets being assembled and wrapped. The pans are labelled, wrapped in nonstick paper, labelled on the outside with a colour swatch, & put in small tins with some free sample dots and stickers.

Inside a cell, this budget is spent by networks of chemical reactions. Switches, patterns and self-assembled structures are steady states of these networks, kept away from equilibrium by fuel. Without fuel they relax back. But most rate constants in a cell are unknown.
