As someone who worked #retail fer so long that I have #PTSD from the experience, let this serve as a reminder to all of us that #RetailWorkers and #ServiceWorkers ARE NOT PAID ENOUGH T'DEAL WITH OUT SHIT. Be kind t'them. The holidays are a nightmarish gauntlet that'd frighten #Pinhead and #Jigsaw.

This ticket isn't even for actual ServiceWorkers! It's for extension ServiceWorkers! There was this a-priori expectation that no actual serviceworkers won't support the ecmascript language.

Always bet on standards. Web Components are well supported, and they work great.
PWAs only really work in Google Chrome unfortunately.
But ServiceWorkers, and WebPush are well supported, and that's a lot of what an "App" needs.

When you install a PWA, the browser reads the Web App Manifest linked from the current page. The manifest declares the app's scope — the URL path the installed app "owns" — along with its name, icons, start_url, etc. The #serviceWorkers are registered separately in #JavaScript.

To be fair (not really), four years ago these assholes were screaming at serviceworkers in rage for daring to ask them to wear masks and suffering no consequences for their abuses. That was a pretty fun time for them. Now no one cares when they take the bold stance of not wearing a mask.
