La cultura de las propinas de EE. UU. gana terreno en Reino Unido y dispara el malestar por cargos, pantallas y porcentajes cada vez mayores.

The article explores the growing influence of US tech companies on British social norms, particularly the adoption of tipping practices that were previously uncommon in the UK. It highlights how the expectation to tip for services like dining, hospitality, and even personal care has increased, driven by US cultural norms and the role of digital platforms. The piece examines the social anxiety surrounding tipping, the pressure on consumers to conform, and the debate over whether this shift is beneficial or detrimental to British traditions. Experts like etiquette coach Jo Bryant suggest navigating this change by adhering to guidelines—such as tipping in restaurants but not in pubs or cafes, avoiding double tipping, and using the 'no' option confidently. The article also touches on the racial and gender biases in tipping practices, as well as the broader implications of US cultural influence on British society. It concludes with a call for a national discussion on how to balance the impact of tech-driven norms with the preservation of local customs.
