I took a trip out to the Yashiro area of Shunan to see the annual nesting group of hooded cranes. It's the only place on Honshu where they nest so they're a symbol of local pride. They're also highly protected, so I made sure to take the pictures from behind a tree at the observation center. #Birds

If you're ever around Tokuyama Station in Shunan during the day, I beg you to visit ルシア, the coffee shop that time forgot.
I have been there a half dozen times, and each time I'm surprised that it's still there, unchanged.
