#Siddartha

Fritze ... setz Dich mal untern'n Baum.

Just seen someone confidently asserting that Siddartha Gautama/ the Buddha is historically better attested that Jesus, and… no, he really isn’t! I see no reason to question that Siddartha is a real person, but we don’t even know which century he lived in.

Exactly, we accept Homer as real, Siddartha as real and a bunch of others as real with zero archeological evidence beyond third hand accounts, some centuries after the event. Fictional? Who knows

As a young'n I was given freedom to think about, learn about, ask about, and form my own ideas about religion and/or spirituality. This was before I learned any anthropology at all. Chinua Achebe's Things Fall Apart mixed with Siddartha meant a lot more to me than my grandparent's religions. <more>

I think that if you're in a German school, either "Siddartha" or "Demian" comes up at some point.

The Nepalese are the first Peoples to suffer massive loss in the Climate wars.
A few of Rick Steve’s pics from his book “On The Hippie Trail” which details his travels to Nepal in 1978—
He mentions that Nepal is so poor, *india* gives them aid. But the people are happy, peaceful & welcoming.
