For EM or gw, in near field you have all those field contributions that are not 1/r, but 1/r^2 or higher. The only thing making far field simple is that all the higher powers of 1/r can be neglected. For acoustic, apparently even weirder, near a speaker.

It’s just that it isn’t controversial that they trained here. It’s a generally accepted fact. No one seriously challenges that part. Two really did train at SimCenter in Opa-Locka, FL, eg.
