It's #FindsFriday once again!

This time we have a lovely Late Iron Age - Early Romano-British La Tene III Nauheim Derivative brooch excavated by the Kent Archaeological Rescue Unit in 1991 from the Isle of Grain. It dates to no later than 80 CE.

Any thoughts from our #archaeological friends and colleagues on the nature of this object? We think its likely related to either iron or glass smelting and is very similar to a find from another Roman site we have.

Any suggestions most welcome!

Came across this rather nice example of a 1st century (C.AD10-65), copper alloy, Roman belt buckle while doing some research on the PAS database, surprisingly complete! Take a look at the record for more info.

I love these little Nene Valley Colour coated ware hunt cups. I think we have a fragment of the rear hind legs of the deer that is unfortunate enough to find itself being chased by a hound.

Currently working on a paper about provenancing Late Antiquity textiles and remembering fondly this bit of textile from the Whitby Museum. No context, no provenance, no way to know for sure if it is, in fact, Romano-Briton. Just ✨vibes✨ and wells. 💅
