A couple Link operators in this thread are saying that they have always had the option to deactivate the crossing but it takes a while for ATP to reactivate so they only do it if they know they will have a long dwell time.

Key to Seattle's ridership success is the explosion in use of its light rail, now >2.5x higher than it was pre-pandemic.

San Diego has also brought riders back to light rail. But Denver has less than half the light rail ridership it had back then.

Especially interesting considering the actual human mobility impacts. The I5 bridge at Portland & SoundTransit Link carry approximately the same number of humans each day. Only one of these is charged per trip

Maddening that cars is the default mobility plan & transit is always seen as elite icing
