#StackOverflow
AI hasn't completely revolutionised software development, unless we think speeding up the process of copying & pasting answers from Stackoverflow is revolutionary.
Two things are true:

1. Claims about AI capabilities are overblown
2. AI has completely revolutionized software development, and will do the same to many other fields

I'm a software developer by trade. I'm going to attempt to explain what this revolution feels like "from the inside".

Reddit is being overtaken by AI bots though. It's going to go the way of StackOverflow most likely.

they are dying a stackoverflow death in both senses (community putrefaction and functional replacement by AI)

Software development has tons and tons of open source code and formerly useful sites like stackoverflow where people collaborated on bug fixes and error messages etc. that’s what the LLMs got to train off of

It's ironic: StackOverflow has probably contributed more than any other single source to training AI in coding skills. Now, AI has killed Stack Overflow.

Can't wait until I have to scroll past the sponsored Gemini answer that links to a scam site to get to the real one it pulled from Stackoverflow

the folks on StackOverflow apparently don't understand why I don't want to maintain a config file with like 500+ individual custom mappings from `Host: foo` to `www/foo/` lmfao
